Games that stimulate and challenge girls don't have to be dull. Instead a variety of games exist for girls that allow them to solve puzzles, spot differences and overcome mental obstacles, all on the Internet. The majority of these games feature female protagonists so these games will interest girls in particular. - The website Funbrain.com offers a game called "The Plural Girls." This game tests girls on their spelling ability for irregular plural forms. For example, the game introduces you to two pink cats named Pearl and Flora. The game explains that they lost their friends in the bubble machine and that in order to get them out, you need to correctly choose the plural form of each noun. For example, you have to decide if the plural form of "alumnus" is "alumni" or "alumnuses." The more correct words that you choose, the more of their friends that get to escape from the bubble machine.
- The website Mygames4girls.com has a game called "Spot the Difference with Lea, Lee and Lilou." In this game you have to examine two pictures, one above the other, of a girl standing in front of a packed closet filled with apparel and accessories. It's your job to scrutinize each picture very closely and click on all the differences between them. For example, in one picture the girl is wearing a turquoise halter with black trim; in the other picture the halter has white trim. Once you spot all the differences only then do you win the game.
- The website Gamesgames.com allows you to download and play an online game based on the dramatic television series about a fictional town called Cabot Cove. Help a crime novelist named Jessica Fletcher, who resembles the actress Angela Lansbury on the show, around the neighborhood, solving mysteries and crimes. For example, at one point in the game you'll have to examine a crime scene and search for a number of pieces of evidence such as footprints, a bottle cap, a milk bottle and a bag of mulch. If you ever get stuck, there's a type writer at the bottom of the screen that you can click on for a hint. At other points in the game you might come across a ripped up note and have to reassemble the crumpled pieces in order to use it and solve the crime.
