Monday, November 8, is Young Reader's Day. It's a good day to spend reading with your young children. Reading was always a favorite activity in our home and reading together gave us a chance to spend some very special time together.
My son was an avid reader, even before he started school, so I had a hard time keeping him supplied with books to read. Rather than buy new books all the time, I would take my son on regular trips to the library.
We went at least twice a month, sometimes more often, and each time we'd collect the limit of books that could be checked out at one time -- sixteen!
We always picked one to read together that night. Sometimes I would read the book out loud to my son and sometimes he would read out loud to me. And sometimes we would take turns. It was my favorite nighttime activity.
Some of our favorite books included the Morris and Boris books and Flatfoot Fox series. Some readers have offered their suggestions for books gifted kids are sure to love. Do you have any to add?
