- 1). Mix up the contents of the bleaching kit according to the package directions. Pour the powder into the developer bottle with gloved hands, replace the cap and shake the bottle well.
- 2). Squeeze the bleach on the dark areas only -- the roots, the underside of the hair and any missed spots from the previous dye process. Work it in with your fingers, making sure every strand is covered. Ask a friend for help with the back of the head.
- 3). Leave the bleach on for up to 30 minutes, depending on the natural hair regrowth color. Rinse it out with warm water until the water runs clear and squeeze out the excess moisture. Comb your hair to untangle and remove knots after towel-drying it.
- 4). Put a thin layer of petroleum jelly around the hairline, ears and neck to prevent the hair dye from staining your skin. Put on a clean pair of gloves.
- 5). Dip the brush in the dye and apply the dye to the darker portions first. Coat the hair thoroughly, covering each strand. Wait 10 to 15 minutes and apply the dye to the bleached areas. Since they are already light, they won't need a lot of color time.
- 6). Wait an additional five to 10 minutes and rinse the hair out. Put in some deep conditioner and rinse it out after five minutes. Style as usual.
