- 1). Evenly cut a dark chocolate candy bar into the number of oz. on the label. For instance, if the chocolate bar is 2 oz., cut it in half to make measuring the chocolate easier for the recipe.
- 2). Substitute each 1 oz. of unsweetened baking chocolate in the recipe with 1 oz. of an eating chocolate bar.
- 3). Subtract 4 tsp. of sugar from the recipe for each 1 oz. of eating chocolate used instead of baking chocolate. For instance, if the recipe required 6 oz. of unsweetened baking chocolate and you used 6 oz. of eating chocolate, subtract 4 x 6 = 24 tsp. of sugar from the recipe. Divide the number of tsp. by 3 to find the amount of sugar in tbsp. For the example, 24 tsp./3 = 8 tbsp.
- 4). Continue to bake the recipe as directed. Carefully watch the chocolate if you must melt it before adding it to the recipes; some chocolate candy bars scorch more easily than baking chocolate.
