- 1). Purchase games only from reputable vendors. Street vendors, especially in Third World countries, will often sell pirated games.
- 2). Check the box the game came in for any possible grammatical and spelling errors. Pirated games will often have typos and spelling mistakes on the cover of the box.
- 3). Avoid purchasing games claiming to have multiple games on one disc with no box cover. Pirated games are often sold as package deals with other games.
- 4). Inspect the disc's color and ensure it is not a DVDR. Video games are not printed on DVR discs; they are originally created on DVDs. DVDR discs will have a purple or blue tint.
- 5). Inspect the label on the disc. If it appears the disc has a paper label that has been glued on, it is likely a pirated game.
- 6). Inspect the box of the game for its creator's trademark and hologram.
