- 1). Use 100 percent pure tea tree oil. Cleanse the face and pat dry. Using the tips of your fingers, apply a liberal amount of tea tree oil to the afflicted area. Tea tree oil is a natural astringent that can unclog pores and eliminate acne.
- 2). Use Retinol-A. See your physician for a prescription, or purchase an over-the-counter, low-grade Retinol-A formula. Apply a dime-sized amount to the entire face. Apply once at night and use a sunscreen during the day. If irritation occurs, reduce usage. Avoid the eyes and nose.
- 3). Use an acne-treatment medication that contains at least 2.5 percent benzoyl peroxide. For severe acne, obtain a prescription-grade acne face wash and night cream. Prescription-grade cleaner must contain a 10 percent or higher formulation of benzoyl peroxide.
- 4). Wash your face after you wash your hair. Many shampoos and conditioners contain harsh ingredients that inflame the skin and clog pores. Wash all shampoo and conditioning residue from the face with a silica-based cleaner. Pat the skin dry and apply a toner for optimum results.
- 5). Take Selenium and Vitamin E and A supplements. Use as directed, and take with a full glass of water.
