- 1). Wait until the majority of the snails are immobile inside their shells or temporarily gone for the night or morning to treat your garden.
- 2). Remove any stray snails by hand to minimize the amount of snails killed during treatment.
- 3). Wet the ground you wish to cover with a garden hose.
- 4). Scoop up 1 tsp. of granulated snail bait. The bait is laced with a sweet-smelling ingredient that attracts nearby snails.
- 5). Sprinkle the teaspoon of snail bait evenly over 1 square foot of your vegetable garden. Do not pour enough snail bait in one place to form a pile. The bait should be in an even, single layer.
- 6). Repeat until the entire garden has a light coating of snail bait on the ground, sprinkling 1 tsp. per square foot. If you have a larger area of ground to cover, use 1/2 to 1 lb. snail bait for every 1,000 square yard.
