Facebook released a new function teaming up with Skype.
Now you can have on-line video conversations inside of Facebook with any of your Facebook friends without needing to sign on an additional VOIP software.
I tested the application briefly and while there is a tiny lag in the conversation, I can hear the entire conversation clearly and I can move and adjust the screen size associated with the particular video chat.
This is certainly a great feature for small businesses owners as it facilitates communicating with your prospects and associates effectively and effortlessly without requiring the you to sign onto a 3rd party voice over internet protocol application outside of Facebook.
It also does not require your contact to have a Skype account.
Since everyone is on Facebook nowadays this is a very handy tool for building relationships and maintaining contact This is an absolutely free application so there is no major tele-communication costs associated and yet it improves upon your work flow with your business partners and contacts.
This feature is definitely very easy to use although somewhat lacking in bells and whistles.
This is without a doubt still an early stage of the Facebook Skype joint project and I suspect we will have enhancement and development very soon, particularly for mobile and landline use.
In the mean time, let me share my findings of the test with you: 1.
This is truly a computer to computer call; I am not able to see an alternative to use it on my mobile phone yet.
I am quite sure this will be available in the near future.
2.
This is a one-to-one online video telephone call.
I do not find any option to add in more than one Facebook friend to this video call.
Group video calls is not a possibility here.
3.
I can however place a video voice message if the person I wish to connect is currently inaccessible for a video chat 4.
I can call anyone from my small Facebook friend list but not anyone outside of it.
So how do you initialize your own Facebook video call? 1 - You go to your friend's profile and look for the video icon on her profile.
Clicking on that will initiate a call.
If your friend does not have the ply in installed yet, she will receive a message to do so.
2 - Alternatively you can open up you chat box and choose from the list of friend who is currently on-line for chat (with the green button).
Clicking on their name will start the video call.
3 - If you do not have the plugin yet, you can head over to Facebook's site and search for 'videocalling'.
That will bring you to a page where you can get started.
Pretty straightforward.
I hope you find this helpful, if you want more details, I have made a video for you that will make all this clearer.
