Redneck Man
Jin and Sawyer continue to drink beer at the Dharma bus."I'm sorry," Jin says.
"Okay, nice," Sawyer says. "Keep 'em coming."
"You were right."
"Okay," Sawyer says, "that's two."
"Those pants don't make you look bad."
"Now you've got it," Sawyer says, "only three things a woman needs to hear." They clink their beers together.
Hurley comes over and says, "Come on, get up. We've got work to do."
"What's your problem, JumboTron?" Sawyer asks.
"Shut up," Hurley says, "Red-neck-man."
"Touche," Sawyer says. He sees Charlie. "What's Jiminy Cricket doing here?"
"We need another man," Hurley says.
"Another man for what?"
"To push this car, Dude."
"Push it? Push it where?"
Hurley walks over and pulls Sawyer up, as Sawyer screams.
Jin, Charlie, and Sawyer push the bus, while Hurley is in the driver's seat. He stops at the top of a really big hill and they all look down.
"Oh, this is going to be real good," Sawyer says sarcastically.
Going to Australia
Hurley packs and his father walks in. "So, you're going to Australia, huh? Long way to go for some stupid numbers.""I'd really like you to leave."
Hurley's father sits. "When your mom called me about the lottery, I was on my bike before she could hang the phone up. I'm getting old. I saw my retirement. You're right, I'm here for the money."
"Well you're not getting any of it," Hurley says.
"That's not why I'm here talking to you now. I'm here talking to you now because going to Australia is not going to break any curse.
You don't need to leave, you just need a little hope. We make our own luck, Hugo. You know what I think you should do? I think you should get rid of the money. All of it, every penny. Then save up for a carburetor for the Camero. Just you and me. Take it off the blocks and take that road trip to the Grand Canyon. It's never too late for a fresh start."
"I'll send you a postcard from Sydney."
"I'll be here when you get back.
Crash and Burn
At the top of the hill, Sawyer says, "Are you nuts? You're not going to drive down that!""We're going to jump start it," Hurley says. "You guys are going to push it and then on the way down I'm going to pop the clutch and get it started."
Sawyer points to the rocks at the bottom. "You see those rocks? All you're going to do is crash into those rocks real fast, if you don't roll over first."
"Hurley, no," Jin says.
"Dudes, I know how to drive. Now come on, just push me. This will work, I know it."
Sawyer looks at Charlie. "And what are you out here for? Watch him crash and burn?"
"I came to ride shotgun." Charlie goes and gets in the bus.
"Well, it's your funeral." Sawyer says. Hurley and Charlie are in the bus and Sawyer says to Jin, "Come on, let's give them their ride."
Hurley asks Charlie, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Victory or death," Charlie says.
Hurley turns the key in the ignition and then says, "Push!"
Sawyer and Jin push the bus over the edge and Hurley and Charlie quickly roll down the hill, both looking scared! Sawyer and Jin watch as they head for the rocks.
Charlie says, "Now would be a good time."
Hurley closes his eyes and says, "There is no curse. We make our own luck."
"Hurley!"
Hurley pops the clutch and puts the van in gear. The engine roars, and Hurley drives them around the rocks. An 8-track plays the same song Hurley was listening to as a kid when his dad first left.
"Son-of-a-bitch!" Sawyer says. Jin celebrates.
Inside the bus, Hurley and Charlie celebrate. Sawyer, Jin, and Vincent run down the hill and jump in the bus. Hurley drives around in circles as they all celebrate.
Return
Jin, Charlie, and Sawyer, carrying a crate of beer, return to the beach.Jin gives Sun a flower and they kiss. Charlie goes to Claire's shelter. Sawyer looks around, but doesn't see Kate. Hurley is still back in the bus by himself, smiling. He drives the bus around some more.
Sawyer sits by himself and drinks a beer. He watches Jin and Sun walk hand in hand and Charlie telling Claire a story. He shakes his head.
Kate Goes For Help
Kate walks through the jungle at night, carrying a torch. She looks at a net on the ground. She hears something and crouches, watching two torches coming her way. It's Locke and Sayid. "Kate," Sayid says, "if you were looking for help to get Jack, why didn't you ask us?"
"Two reasons," Kate says, "you don't know where to look and you're not motivated. And I don't blame you. Why would you want to trek across the island and risk more lives just to get Jack back?"
"You're wrong," Locke says.
"Really? Then why didn't you come after us?" Kate asks.
"Not about the motivation," Locke says, "just about knowing where to look. We got a compass bearing and I'm pretty sure if we follow it, it will lead us right to him."
"How?" Kate asks.
"Because of the way the sunlight hit Mr. Eko's stick when John was burying him," Sayid says.
Kate rolls her eyes.
Locke says, "So now you know our secret, how about you tell us yours?"
Gunshots and they duck. Locke pulls a gun and Kate says, "No, no, no, don't shoot, don't shoot." She looks out into the jungle, "It's alright! It's safe. We're just here to talk. You can come out."
Rousseau steps out of cover and Sayid and Locke lower their guns. "What are you doing here?" Rousseau asks.
"I came to ask for your help," Kate says. "I'm heading to the Others' camp, and if I'm going to find it, I need someone who knows the island."
"What makes you think I'd have an interest in helping you?"
"Because they had me and they would have never let me go. Probably would have killed me if I hadn't escaped. And the girl who helped me escape was about 16 years old, and her name was Alex. I'm pretty sure that she's your daughter."
