Instructions
1Remove a palm tree by digging the stump out with a spade or pick. Palm trees have very stubborn root systems. This is a very time consuming way to remove a palm tree.
2
Kill the tree with chemicals, and then remove it. Dig a hole and add chemicals to it. This is probably the least environmentally sound way to remove a palm tree and should only be done on the advice of an arborist.
3
Take 5 to 10 years to kill the tree by natural means. This is better for the environment but requires great patience. Remove all the new growth on the tree as soon as you see it. If you choose to do this method, you can also let it decay naturally.
4
Hire a tree removal expert. This is the best method for the removal of large trees or trees that are located near power lines or gas lines. This is the most expensive way to get rid of a palm tree, but it is also one of the most efficient.
5
Find someone to transplant the palm tree. This is good for you and for the environment. Some companies will come and remove the tree for free and then sell it to a customer. In some cases, especially Florida, you may even be paid for your palm tree. It can be a win-win situation.
