- 1). Label each part of your chair by placing a piece of masking tape on it and labeling the tape. Number identical rungs so that you will be able to distinguish the order in which they are assembled.
- 2). Disassemble your chair by twisting apart any unglued pieces. Knock glued pieces free by striking them with a rubber mallet against a padded work bench.
- 3). Re-glue any cracked or broken places using wood glue. Secure with woodworking clamps and allow to dry. Remove any old screws or nails. Allow the glue to dry and file away the excess.
- 4). Coat each joint in glue and carefully reassemble the pieces of your chair. Tap stubborn joints back into place with the rubber mallet. Secure with woodworking clamps and allow to dry.
- 5). Sand away the excess glue. Varnish the finished chair with wood stain to restore the finish.
