- 1). Spread a sheet of newspaper on a table. Set the Texas Mountain Laurel seeds on top of the paper. Pick up one of the seeds, hold it firmly in one hand and file it with a metal nail file until the seed changes color.
- 2). Set the filed seed into a separate pile on the newspaper. Repeat the process on the remaining seeds.
- 3). Place all of the seeds into a bowl of water to soak for 24 hours. Scoop out and dispose of any seeds that float; they are not viable.
- 4). Fill a 1-gallon-size planting pot with an all-purpose potting soil to within 1 inch of the rim. Use a pot with three to four drainage holes in the bottom.
- 5). Remove the Texas Mountain Laurel seeds from the bowl of water. Place four to five in the top of the soil at equally spaced distances.
- 6). Sprinkle a light dusting of fungicide powder over the seeds until they are barely covered, but not so thick that they are no longer visible.
- 7). Cover the seeds with 1/2-inch of additional potting soil. Keep the soil moist until the seeds germinate. Once germination occurs, move the pot to a window that receives bright but not direct sunlight.
