In 1997, the picture of a drastic change started taking shape, when General Electric one of the well established brands set up a unit here. It proved to be an important point in history as many other national as well as international firms started following in the footsteps of this giant player engaged in IT and software domain and opened up their units here. Till this time, this region was devoid of infrastructural facilities which are required for commercial establishments. The infrastructural facilities started developing with the proposal of Global Business Park in Mehrauli, which was a giant project attracting many multinationals to this region. The park was designed by one of the well-known US firm, which provided all the modern facilities required for business establishments to flourish.
Presently apart from the IT and business process outsourcing companies, there are several others who are supposed to be the specialists in their respective domain, the best example of which could be Siemens, a software developing company for world renowned establishments like the NASA. The story of the progress of Gurgaon continued with the arrival of other multinationals like American express, Pepsi, IBM, Microsoft as well as Bank of America.
