- 1). Obtain a conversion chart online. Online Conversion's website provides charts/tables for women's size conversions. The chart will list the basic rules in determining the clothing sizes of other countries. The chart is meant to give an overall view, but is not 100 percent accurate.
- 2). Select the country the size needs to be converted into. U.S./Canadian sizes are sometimes stated in numbers or letters and use the same sizing system. The table or chart will use U.S. sizing as the base of the search. Letter sizing is common in t-shirts and athletic gear. The letter size will have to be converted into a number before converting the U.S. size to a foreign size.
- 3). Add 3 to the standard U.S./Canadian dress size for clothes purchased in Japan. A U.S. size 6 is a 9 in Japan. A size 4 is a 7, a 9 is a 12 and so on.
- 4). Add 30 to the standard US/Canadian dress size for clothes purchased in most parts Europe. European clothes are measured primarily by the waistline. A U.S./Canadian size 2 would be a 32 in Europe, a US 4, a 34 and so on.
- 5). Subtract 34 from the clothing size in Italy. A size 44 in Italy would convert to a U.S. size 10. An Italian size 30 is an American size 6, 38 is a 4.
- 6). Obtain the converted size of British clothing by adding 2 to the U.S. clothing size. An American size 6 is an 8 in the UK, a 10 is a 12, a 8 is a 10.
