Kitten Behavior That All Cat Owners Must Know

If you are a new cat owner then kitten behavior may sometimes seem puzzling.
However over time you'll discover that everything they do has a purpose.
Training a kitten to understand which behaviors are acceptable and which are not can be one of the best investments of time you'll ever make.
It is very important to groom the kitten in such a way that its behavior does not jeopardize the happiness and cleanliness of your home.
A majority of people find scratching to be a nuisance.
But scratching is an important part of a kitten's life.
Let us not forget that a kitten is basically a predator.
Scratching helps it play and undergo the mock trial of catching and hitting their prey with its paws.
In addition, scratching also helps the kitten to shed its older claw sheaths.
You should not try to stop it from scratching.
However, you can train them to differentiate between the places where it should scratch and where it should not.
Buying cat stands or cat condos where it can scratch can help tremendously in this aspect.
Many people find aggression to be a part of kitten's nature.
It is true that kittens can be aggressive at times, however the level of aggression may also vary from one kitten to another.
If a kitten is well socialized, it should not be too aggressive.
Spend time with your pet, and in case you have multiple cats or kittens at home, go ahead and let them play with one another.
Another aspect of kitten behavior is that they would often bite and scratch you while playing.
While this is also a part of their instinct, you may not find the behavior too pleasant once your kitty grows up.
That is why you should always train it such that it understands that biting during play is not permissible.
However, aggression can also indicate illness.
You might have to be very careful when dealing with this trait.
Like dogs, kittens too can suffer from separation anxiety.
But unlike dogs, their pain is not always too vocal.
Make sure that the kitten gets enough attention from its owner.
Jumping is another important characteristic of a kitten.
You may need to create a separate space or purchase toys such as outdoor cat enclosures for this purpose.
While getting a kitten is a fun experience, it might not be easy to understand cat behavior from the start.
Good luck and have fun with your pet!
