- 1). Clean and vacuum the room where the black mites exist. Like many other insects, mites often die when vacuumed. Vacuuming alone is not enough, but it is a good start to killing and getting rid of the mites.
- 2). Spray the area with a mite killer. Mite killers are available in insecticides and through natural sources. Mite treatments that have natural enzymes are usually effective against mites that have invaded the home, so this is a good option for most homes as it is safe for the entire family.
- 3). Put out an insect fogger. These are an effective option for getting rid of insects of all kinds, and they work in more areas than where sprayed. When using this, make sure to remove all humans and pets from the home for the entire day before turning activation. Fogging takes between six and eight hours, but the fog can go into any area to kill all of the insects, including mites.
- 4). Take preventative measures against a return of the black mites. Mite killers should be sprayed every month or so to prevent more black mites from entering the home. Flea powders can also be put down on carpeted areas once every one to three months and are often useful against mites.
