- 1). Preheat your oven according to your recipe, but lower the temperature by 25 degrees. Since agave nectar burns more easily than sugar, doing this will help your baked goods turn out well, instead of over-baked.
- 2). Substitute agave nectar for white sugar in recipes. Note that you cannot substitute brown sugar or powdered sugar with agave--the recipe won't work if you try this.
- 3). Use less agave in recipes that call for white sugar--one-third to one-fourth less. For example, if the recipe calls for one cup of white sugar, use two-thirds to three-fourths of a cup of agave nectar.
- 4). Decrease the amount of liquid in the recipe by 25 percent. For example, if the recipe calls for a cup of milk, use three-fourths of a cup of milk. Since agave is in liquid form, you won't need to use as much liquids in the recipe.
- 5). Use agave in recipes that call for honey, corn syrup or maple syrup. In these recipes, you can use the same amount of agave without altering the recipe. For example, if the recipe calls for a half-cup of honey, use a half-cup of agave.
