The Bottom Line
Legendary music composer Nobuo Uematsu is best known for his work in the Final Fantasy game series. Throughout his career, he has garnered critical acclaim and a massive fan base. Most, if not all, of his music can stand alone without the support of a video game; Lost Odyssey is no exception. Uematsu uses a variety of instruments ranging from solo harp to the electric guitar to a full symphonic orchestration with a choir.
This album features many great songs and I have no doubt many of you will find it as enjoyable as I did.

Guide Review - Lost Odyssey Soundtrack Review
Because there are about 60 tracks within this 2-disk album, about half of the songs are short, and though they do sound good, they work better within the context of the game. However, that still leaves plenty of fantastic music. Here are a few of the album's highlights:
- "Kaette kuru, kitto..." ("A Return, Indeed...") - arranged for solo piano by Satoshi Henmi, is melodious heartfelt song that leaves you feeling slightly sorrowful, yet joyful and hopeful. Hear "Kaette kuru, kitto..." on YouTube.
- "Eclipse of Time" (Harp Version) - arranged by Hiroyuki Nakayama. Here's another I could listen to all day. It's the epitome of peace and tranquility. Hear "Eclipse of Time" on YouTube.
- "The Wanderer of Darkness" - This rather somber piece of music features the perfect instrumentation. It's so smooth and easy on the ears you can leave on repeat all day and it just disappears. Hear "The Wanderer of Darkness" on YouTube.
- "Prologue" - the introduction of Lost Odyssey's main theme. This brilliant piece of music is nothing short of magic. Hear the "Prologue" on YouTube.
- Last, but certainly not least, is "Roar of the Departed Souls" - this is the song from the games final enemy battle. Written for both choir and rock band, there's no doubt about it - this is one serious piece of music. Hear "Roar of the Departed Souls" on YouTube.
