How to Build a Corner Wall Shelf

    Making the Shelves

    • 1). Use the measuring tape and find the spot on the particle board where it is 20 inches wide. Draw a line with the pencil across the circumference of the board at that spot.

    • 2

Use the T-square to draw a line that dissects the first line you drew at a 90-degree in the middle (10-inch mark). This line should go across the entire diameter of the particle board.

    • 3

Lay the T-square at the middle of the line you just drew (12-inch mark) and draw another 90-degree line across the diameter of the board. The board should now be divided into four equal sections.

    • 4). Cut the board along the quartered lines using the table saw so you have four quarters of the circle.

    • 5). Paint the sides and edges of the particle board shelves the color of your choice.

    Hanging the Shelves

    • 1). Determine which corner and how high you want the four shelves to go.

    • 2). Use the level to draw straight lines on the wall with a pencil to mark the spot where each shelf will rest and a measuring tape to keep these marks equidistant from one another.

    • 3). Hold up a couple of the shelves to the corner to make sure you like the look and spacing of the shelves.

    • 4). Place one of the shelf brackets along the marker for the top shelf, with the longer side of the bracket along the wall about 8 inches from the corner. The part of the bracket pressed against the wall should be pointing down at the floor.

    • 5). Use the pencil to mark a dot in each of the screw holes on the shelf bracket, and then remove the bracket.

    • 6). Insert the 3/16-inch drill bit into the drill and drill holes at the markers the same length as the plastic anchors.

    • 7). Insert the anchors into the holes and press on them with the side of the measuring tape to make sure they are in all the way.

    • 8). Repeat steps 4 to 7 on the opposite wall face so you are prepared to install two shelf brackets for the shelf.

    • 9). Insert the screwdriver drill bit into the screwdriver. Align the holes in the shelf brackets with the anchors in the wall, and use the drill to drill the brackets into the wall with the screws that came with the brackets.

    • 10

Place the shelf on top of the brackets and press down gently on the shelf while using the drill and the 1/2-inch screws to attach the shelf to the brackets.
