f you're like me you struggle with so many social media options.
Which ones do I participate in, how do I keep up with so many of them and be effective? My social media strategy consists of Twitter, Facebook and 3 FB pages and LinkedIn for my various online businesses.
I also have a few blogs and am active in a couple of forums and two paid communities.
There is a fine line between over doing social media for branding and list building and total time suck.
I have to be really careful not to let that happen.
I schedule my social media time carefully.
I am not on all of these communities every day, some just once a week, others a couple of times a week and some a few times a day, in and out.
That's why I am in love with HootSuite.
Did I mention it's FREE? HootSuite enables you to group all of your social media accounts together under one roof.
I have my two Twitter accounts, my personal FB and two of my FB business pages on HootSuite.
You can also integrate Ping.
fm, WordPress, MySpace, Blogger, many social bookmarks and Foursquare.
I have built columns for each of my social media accounts that include a column for @mentions, DM's, sent, and my lists on Twitter.
I can move them around to different lists by drag and dropping! I only have to pay attention to my Twitter peeps and can block out all the rest of the chatter and noise.
I also see my Facebook wall on HootSuite.
I can post to all my social media networks at once with the same message or each one individually with just a click of the mouse.
How about this, have you ever gotten lost in a conversation? Have you ever gotten a reply and you have no idea what you were talking about a few hours back? It can be difficult keeping up with all of that, but not with HootSuite.
With just one mouse click you see the entire conversation from the beginning.
Now for the icing on the cake.
You can schedule your posts in advance for any or all of these social media accounts! You see your scheduled posts in another column and you can even save posts to draft to be used again! It doesn't get sweeter than that.
I would be lost without HootSuite.
I schedule specific posts according to my market in each community ahead of time and just flit in and out a couple of times a day to see what is going on and who I need to reply to or converse with.
