TaylorMade is really putting out some quality products these several years, the Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 driver and r1 driver. It truly is amazing what the Stage 2 can do. They help me shave 4-5 points off my score every round. My friends aren't letting me handicap anymore.
The Stage 2 has a center of gravity that is lower and more "forward"; it is in between the centers of gravity of the original RBZ and Tour. TM also gave it a larger face area, which generally makes a golf driver more forgiving on mis-hits and widens the sweet spot. Although it may share a similar paint job with the new R1 driver, the Stage 2 does not feature the same level of adjustability.
My previous driver was a taylormade r11s driver for sale. I now have the Rocketballz Stage 2 driver with 9.5 standard loft and stiff shaft. I'm using the standard 9.5 setting. It's a big change for me but exactly what I needed. My drives are finding more fairways, longer, and the trajectories are awesome. I could not be happier with my purchase.
It has 7 face angle options (square, open, medium-open, maximum-open, closed, medium-closed, maximum-closed) as well as movable weights to promote a neutral/straight flight or a distance-enhancing draw. The R1 driver also features a lower and more forward CG to promote a high launch, fast ball speed and low spin. The result is one driver that can be full adjusted to fit any player.
The Tour version has an even lower center of gravity than the normal version. This is less forgiving, but rewards accurate high-swing-speed golfers with lower trajectory and better ball roll. Although the RBZ 2 is not as adjustable as TM's new flagship driver, the R1 driver for sale, it still features a hosel design with 1.5 degrees of range in loft.
The shaft is extremely light which makes the club-head feel heavy. It feels like you're swinging a rock that is tied at the end of a piece of rope! In that sense, it's a "throw-back" club. But with the adjustability, it's state of the art! Combining this expanded clubface with Inverted Cone Technology results in optimal ball speed. Stage 2 has improved upon RBZ aerodynamics, features Thick-Thin crown for ideal Center of Gravity (CG), and like the R1 - optimal adjustability for an ideal launch.
If you already know exactly what loft/face angle you like, go with the RBZ 2. If you love experimenting with fine-tuning your trajectory, the R1 is for you.
