How To Make Your Own Beautiful Candles at Home

Making your own candles whether it is for your own personal pleasure or profit is enjoyable. It can be very rewarding once you finish your candles. You can use them as part of your homemade Christmas decorations (or any kind of decorations), or you can sell them and earn some nice bucks as candle making itself is a billion dollar industry.

So, if you want to make your own candles first of all you need to prepare the materials. What you need are:

1. Wax

If you can't find a wax, you can use regular white candles or even crayons. If you use a beeswax, you don't need to melt it later.

2. Wick

3. Wax melter / double boiler

Wax melter is used for melting, warming, or dispensing wax. Wax melter is not very affordable, so if you don't have it you can create your own double boiler.

Double boiler is basically a pan inside of a pan. You can create it by placing an empty can or container inside the other pan. The way you use it is by filling the pan with water, then fill the can or container with wax inside of it. Then heat it (medium heat) until the wax melts.

4. Mold / glass / tin for container
5. Pencil (as a wick holder)
6. Fragrance oil
7. Dyes – for coloring your candles. If you use crayons, then you may not need them.

How to make candles instructions:

1. Melt your wax with low medium heat.

2. As it melts, add fragrance oil and dyes. Make sure you don't put too much oil since the candles will not burn properly.

3. While the wax still melts, prepare the mold and wick. Make sure that your wick will be two or three inches more than the candle so you can wrap it around the pencil.

4. Dip the wick into the wax, and then pull it out. This will make your wick covered with wax so it can be straight.

5. Pour the wax into the mold, and add an extra space so you can hang the wick with a pencil.

6. Put your wick into the center of the wax, and then hold the wick until the wax dries by wrapping the end of the wick around the pencil. Lay the pencil horizontally on top of the mold so you can leave it.

7. Let it cool for about 24 hours.

8. When it's hard, remove it from the mold carefully.
