- 1). Generously wrap strands of white lights around the trunk of the Christmas tree, from where the branches begin all the way to the top. You want to use a lot of lights to make the tree look full, so aim for about 100 lights for every vertical foot of tree.
- 2). Generously wrap colored lights around the branches of the Christmas tree. These lights in combination with the white lights will add more depth and dimension to the tree.
- 3). Loosely wrap thick garland around the tree from the top to the bottom. Avoid covering the colored lights with the garland and try to hang it in a way that it covers the gaps between the tree's branches. Also, don't pull the garland tight. If you do, it will suck the tree in and make it look thinner.
- 4). Hang lots of large ornaments on the tips of the tree to add bulk. Make sure they are evenly spaced for a more professional look.
- 5). Fill in the gaps by hanging some smaller decorations on the tips of the tree.
- 6). Hang some decorations of various sizes closer to the trunk of the tree to create more depth.
- 7). Hang tinsel (one or two packages) from the tree's branches. The tinsel will hang down and cover whatever gaps are still visible.
- 8). Top the tree with something bulky, such as a jumbo red ribbon or a large angel.
