- Zinfandel has such a fruity flavor because it is made from very ripe grapes, which also increase the alcohol levels in its wine. Tim Gaiser, in his online Fine Cooking column, recommends pairing fruity Beringer White Zinfandel with spicy, hot foods because of its fruity flavor.
- According to a resource guide published by Zinfandel Advocates & Producers (ZAP), most zinfandel wine is grown in California. Some of the California wineries that produce the varietal are Barefoot Cellars, Klinker Brick and Ravenswood. ZAP has hosted an annual Zinfandel Festival, featuring a Grand Zinfandel Tasting, for more than 20 years. The festival attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.
- Although zinfandel may be called "white zinfandel," the wine the grape produces is actually a rose wine. The zinfandel grape is red, but its juice is clear. The clear juice takes on a red color when winemakers allow it to come in contact with the red grape's skins, seeds and stems.
