Why You Should Consider a Mobility Lift Chair

It's a sad reality, but most people that need a mobility lift chair never get one. The truly sad part is that it's simply due to a lack of knowledge! Most people don't even know what a mobility lift chair is, let alone how one works or why it can benefit them.

Simply put, a lift chair is a chair with a hydraulic lift that is designed to lift to aide the user in standing up. Of course, as the price of the lift chair increases so does it's capabilities. 2 position lift chairs allow the user to sit and recline slightly to watch TV (called TV mode). 3 position lift chairs add in a "full recline" position, and infinite position lift chairs will recline flat, allowing most users the ability to sleep. Some lift chairs even allow for the Trendelenburg position, in which the legs are resting slightly higher than the heart.

The price also is directly related to the quality of the actual chair. Like any piece of furniture, the quality ranges greatly: the simplest of lift chairs might have the comfort of something you'll find at IKEA, and will probably cost you around $400-500. If you looked hard enough, you could find a lift chair that offers infinite recline, heating, massage, and the supplest of Italian leather and a goose down filling to boot. Of course, THAT lift chair might cost you $5,000.

Sure lift chairs can be expensive, but think about what getting a lift chair actually does for a person: how many times a day do you get up out of a seat? Less than 10? Less than 30? Maybe even more? Now imagine if each time you got out of the chair it was a strenuous battle, one that leaves you slightly less prepared for the next battle. For a sick or disabled person, this is what daily life feels like. Simple tasks like getting out of a chair become increasingly more difficult as the day goes on, causing not only a physical toll but an emotional one as well.

It is simply amazing how much we take the most simplest of actions for granted, and a lift chair will lift the spirits of those who need it most. They will welcome the ease in which they can now get up out of their chair, and the resulting energy increase is sure to boost their spirits even further. If you've ever wanted to make a loved one's life that much easier, consider investing in a lift chair.
