Home Remedies for Diabetes - Kidney Beans

The body's inability to produce enough insulin that it needs, or the body cells not responding appropriately to the insulin it already produced is a condition called diabetes mellitus, or diabetes. This is a disease that affects millions of people every year, it is very serious disease that can be life threatening, and worse part; it is not curable - manageable, but not curable.

About twenty one million people in American have diabetes. What is still a mystery is the huge number of people who discovered each year that they have diabetes. Statistics show that in the past ten years, rates of diabetes have increased by more than seventy percent, a staggering number by any standard. At present, diabetes has become the sixth leading causes of death in the country.

There are two forms of diabetes: Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 is characterized by insulin deficiency that starts from birth. What allows glucose to get to the cells of one's body is insulin. Individuals who suffer from type 1 diabetes require regular insulin injections for the rest of their lives. Type 2 comes from many different factors, like lack of exercise, being overweight, not eating healthy foods, plus other unforeseen circumstances. Sufferers can control or manage the disease by modifying their diet, exercising, and taking certain precautions. Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are not curable. They can only be managed.

Fortunately, a host of diabetic remedies, including natural and herbal treatments, have been discovered and are being used to effectively manage the disorder. They are especially helpful to type 2 diabetics. In many cases, constant monitoring of blood sugar levels, medical management and lifestyle changes continue to be needed, but with these herbal diabetic remedies, there now are significantly lowered risks for potentially dangerous diabetes-related problems such as sores, rashes, wounds, infections, seizures and even coma.

Diabetic herbal remedies when used, will help control your glucose levels. A perfect instance, is the herb aloe vera which is known to lower blood sugar levels. Ginseng is another herb that enhances blood sugar control. Some other natural or herbal diabetic remedies such as leaves and plant products; that bring same effect are, gymnema, fenugreek, bitter gourd (karela), dandelion, kidney beans, cinnamon, cayenne and grapefruits. More natural herbs and plant products include: pumpkin, neem seeds, garlic, coconut oil, cherries, chia seeds, buckwheat, wild jeerakam cumin seeds, turmeric powders, and green tea.

Some can be used as part of ingredients in making tea, and others could just be eaten raw without being cooked. For instance, it is suggested that a person who suffer from diabetes should soak cinnamon sticks in his tea, or take one teaspoon full of cinnamon everyday. Grapefruits should be eaten on a daily basis. Meanwhile, fenugreek seeds (about 30 grams) may be soaked in a glass of water overnight. It is a good idea to drink water in the morning before breakfast. Preferably, two teaspoons of powder form fenugreek seed could be used with a glass of milk or water, or even used as spice in food.

Other supplements, such as the minerals zinc and magnesium, are also known to help regulate blood sugar levels. Zinc, in particular, also helps in the production and storage of insulin.

Generally, people with diabetes have to be very aware of what they eat. Sweet, sugar-rich foods, including white flour-based foods, are definitely to be avoided. Instead, people who suffer from diabetes must eat foods low in fat, high in fiber, plus lots of fresh vegetables and fruits.

Diabetes is a serious condition; though medical advice from professionals should not be ignored in place of herbal diabetic remedies. Normally, your physician will give some guidelines and warnings as to how your daily activities; like work, lack of exercise, stress, or even how what you eat can affect a diabetic, and also what needs to be done to stay as healthy as you possibly can, even though you have diabetes.
