In this article today I'd like to discuss several tips, tricks, and tactics that just about everybody can use to shoot three-pointers like a pro.
Basketball is the greatest game ever invented in the history of the world and I don't think I'm exaggerating a bit when I say that. The two most exciting parts of any basketball game are definitely dunking and three-point shooting. In this article today I'm going to give you a practice routine that virtually guarantees that you'll be one of the best three-point shooters in your school's history, and it may be easier than you think.
When you get right down to it, three-point shooting is nothing more than a muscle memory reflex between the muscles in your body and your brain. We reinforce muscle memory through repetition and this means that to become a great three-point shooter all you have to do is practice over and over and over and over again constantly, nonstop until it becomes reflexive.
So what are we talking about practice wise? Here's a practice routine that should sculpt you into a great three-point shooter. Pick five spots along the three-point line. I recommend the head of the key, roughly around each elbow, and then in each far corner.
Stand at each of these spots and make 10 baskets in a row. Don't move from a spot until you have made 10 in a row. After you've made your 10 in a row, move to the next spot and repeat. Once you've made 10 baskets in a row from each of the five spots, start over again but this time take one step back and shoot from there again making 10 in a row.
When you start this routine out it will take an agonizing amount of time to complete it every day. You may have to start making five baskets in a row instead of 10 but after a month or so you should be able to ease back up to 10.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it, this practice routine should take you between three and four hours every single day, and I can't stress enough how important it is to do this routine every single day. Take one day off a week, probably Sunday, to let your body rest, but the rest of the time you should always do this routine every single day.
After just a few months of this routine you should easily become one of the best shooters on your team and after a couple years of doing this practice routine you could very well become one of the best shooters in your state.
Being a great basketball player comes down to discipline and hard work and if you have the discipline to stick with this routine you can have an amazing basketball career.
