The most important starting point is to have just one hive in the city.
Just the look of row of hives in your backyard will trigger unnecessary fear and apprehension to the neighbor because of the buzz and activity of too many bees.

Locate the hive away from general busy traffic on the side of your neighbor like driveway and rooms.
Do not show off your hive and locate it in a place which is not easily visible so that you are not announcing it your neighbors.
C.
The look and color of your hive can be camouflaged like painting the right colors.
Try to repaint if necessary with light green or gray or white to make them merge with your scenery to match your backyard furniture etc.
D.
Water is very important to the busy and thirsty bees so provide a good source of water close to the hives to stop the bees from trying your neighbors for water sources.

You can also try to invite your neighbors and show them the hive and gently introduce to them the world of wonderful bees to explain how harmless the bees are if you know how to handle them well.

Let them also know that bees are most of them away from the hive and are busy foraging for nectar especially not near the home but away.
