    Chamomile

    Echinacea

    • Echinacea is a type of coneflower, of which the purple coneflower is the most potent. Echinacea helps fight colds and other viral infections. People often take a dose of it when they feel cold symptoms coming on to deter a full-blown cold. Echinacea also helps to boost the immune system and has some properties that help heal some skin irritations as well.

    Ginkgo

    • Ginkgo is a tree, and in supplement form its leaves are concentrated into capsules or tea. Ginkgo helps those with asthma, phlebitis, vertigo and memory loss. Ginkgo helps with blood circulation as well. There are some studies that suggest that ginkgo also helps slow down the macular degeneration of some eye diseases.

    Lemon Balm

    • Lemon balm is part of the mint family of herbs. It helps to calm nerves and reduces stress and anxiety, encourages sleep and improves appetite. Lemon balm is available in capsule, powder, oil and creams. Lemon balm is a culinary herb, so you can use it in cooking to add flavor as well as benefit from its healing properties.

    Saint John's Wort

    • Saint John's Wort is a mild tranquilizer. It helps people with depression, insomnia, nervousness and anxiety.

    Dandelion

    • Dandelion is a weed that is common in many people's front yards. Dandelions are good for purifying the blood, and it also stimulates the liver and the kidneys. Some Europeans use dandelion to help with diabetes and liver diseases.

    Warnings

    • Always check with your doctor before starting any herbal regimen. Although they are natural, some herbs will react or interfere with certain medications.
