- 1). Fill half a container with water and the rest with 2 percent milk, and mix well. This mixture can combat mildew that grows on tomatoes, squash and cucumbers.
- 2). Transfer the water-milk mixture to a spray bottle or watering can.
- 3). Spray or drizzle plants with the water-milk mixture every three to four days when you first notice mildew forming on them. You can also use this mixture once a week to prevent mildew from forming.
- 4). Use milk as a fertilizer. Mix one part milk with four parts water. Feed 1 cup of the milk-water mixture to your plants once a week. Milk contains calcium, which is an important part of plant growth. The calcium helps the plant build cell walls, which are essential for transporting other vital nutrients. Calcium also controls the soil's pH level.
