- 1). Measure the volume of the mass before pressure is applied.
- 2). Record the pressure or stress applied to the mass. This can be measured in Pascals or pounds per square inch.
- 3). Measure the volume of the mass after pressure is applied.
- 4). Divide the initial volume by the change in volume. Then multiply that value by the pressure or stress applied. The result is the bulk modulus. Bulk modulus results are measured in Pascals or pounds per square inch
- 1). Record the stress applied to the mass. This value is the pressure applied to the mass. The stress can be measured in pounds per square inch (PSI) or Pascals.
- 2). Measure the strain that the mass undergoes. This can be done via a strain gauge.
- 3). Divide the stress applied to the mass by the strain observed. This is the bulk modulus value for that mass.
