NYC comedy is as versatile as its people.
In New York City we find all types of people from Africans, Asians, Latin people and much more.
Given that each group and person has a different sense of humor, NYC comedy can be a buffet of laughs.
All through the city you will find comedy clubs and comedy shows going on but each one offers something different.
NYC comedy has found its way to living rooms all over the world through sitcoms like 'Friends' with its ironic and sarcastic comedy.
This TV comedy in New York has also found its way to stages in the city's comedy clubs.
Other such TV comedies are 'Seinfeld', 'Frasier' and 'The Office' to name a few.
Some of the most famous comedy clubs are in NYC including Carolines on Broadway, Gotham which hosts Last Comic Standing, Comic Strip Live, Comedy Cellar which was feature in the Seinfeld documentary Comedian and Dangerfields.
NYC funny has developed over the decades from Commedia dell'art that dates back to the Roman comedies of the 16th Century to the modern day standup comedy.
This type sees a comedian stand on stage before an audience and give a live performance of their jokes.
One can also join in and be part of the act in 'improv', where you can get to suggest a scene that the players should act out.
Sketch is another kind where, an individual or group acts out short skits or scenes before an audience.
