It is caused by a problem with a persons Uric Acid where crystals from this acid are created and deposited onto the tendons, cartilage andsurrounding tissue around a persons joints.
What causes Gout? While gout is inborn in people there are things that cause it to flare up and cause the sufferer extreme pain.

What treatments are there? Gout is not a curable condition as it is unfortunately written in your DNA.
However short term gout treatment exists mainly for pain relief which can be debilitating.
for gout pain relief most doctors prescribe NSAIDs or NonSteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs which bring down the swelling and pain or Corticosteroids for those allergic to NSAIDs.
There is also a drug called Allopurinol that is used to block Uric Acid production.
Do these treatments have side effects? Yes, these drugs all have possible side effects like, stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, ulcers and many more have been reported.
These treatments are more for short term relief however.
