- 1). Designate a fashion show team to help you with the planning and execution of the couples show. Separate the committee members into groups assigned to a certain aspect of the show: models, clothing, venue and any other targeted committee you may need.
- 2). Pick a date for the fashion show, and book a venue for it. Any venue works for a fashion show -- such as a park, a hotel ballroom or even a restaurant. Ask venue owners to donate an afternoon or evening to your cause.
- 3). Ask local shops, boutiques and designers to donate clothing, shoes and accessories for the fashion show. Explain to them the charitable cause you are representing, and that donating clothes will result in free advertisement for their store or brand.
- 4). Find models -- both men and women. Calling a casting agency may require you pay the models a fee for their work, so consider advertising an open casting call for volunteer models. Then designate your model committee to choose men and women to walk in your show.
- 5). Contact local makeup artists and hairstylists, and ask them to volunteer their services for your show.
- 6). Plan a run-through prior to the show. Fit models in the clothes you want them to wear, take snapshots of each model in the outfit, and provide the photos to the person in charge of getting everyone ready for the show. Decide which models are walking together and in what order they will appear on the runway. Write down their names, an exact description of what they’re wearing, and where the clothes and accessories came from. The emcee will read this description out loud to the audience during the show.
- 7). Set up for the show. You’ll need music, chairs and a host. Typically, the chairperson of the committee says a few words about the charity and thanks the crowd for coming. From there the music starts and the emcee reads the names of the models and a description of their outfits, while the models walk.
