How to Treat Oily Skin With Oatmeal

Treat oily skin with oatmeal by mixing uncooked rolled oats with a few drops of lemon juice and enough olive oil to create a slightly damp paste.

Add one egg white to the oatmeal mixture. Whip up the egg white with a fork in a small bowl until it becomes frothy, and then fold it into the oatmeal until the mixture becomes thick and consistent. You may even add a dash of skim milk to make the entire mixture a little more creamy and easier to apply.

Apply the oatmeal mask to your face to treat your oily skin. Concentrate the mixture toward areas of your skin where blackheads and acne are most likely to occur, such as your nose and forehead.

Allow the mask to dry completely, which normally takes 15 to 20 minutes. Your skin may start to itch if you leave the oatmeal mask on your face for too long.

Rinse off the oatmeal mask using warm water, taking care not to rub your face excessively, which may irritate your skin. You should notice a decrease in the number of blackheads in the oily areas of your skin.

Dry your skin with a thick, absorbent towel after you treat it with an oatmeal mask. Again, take care not to rub your skin vigorously.

Repeat this process at least once a day until your skin appears less oily, and blackheads and blemishes disappear.

Use colloidal oatmeal as an additional cleansing agent for your skin. You can make your own colloidal oatmeal by grinding rolled oats in a coffee grinder or mill until you create a powder that can be easily dissolved into water. The powder can then be poured into a lukewarm bath with Epsom salts and baking soda, or mixed into an all-purpose facial wash.
