USC linebacker Rey Maualuga was a Parade All America prospect coming out of Eureka (CA) High School in 2005. As a freshman, he appeared in 12 games -- mostly as a back-up middle linebacker and special teams player -- recording 37 tackles (including 4.5 for a loss), one sack, two forced fumbles, two deflections, and an interception. He also earned numerous honors, including being named to the 2005 Football Writers Association of America Freshman All-American first team and winning USC's John McKay Award.
