- A primary responsibility of mothers is to be a role model for their children. Children watch and mimic what they see occurring in their households, This places parents under observation at all times, and, in particular, mothers with their daughters. By demonstrating the importance of nurturing their bodies through proper eating, weight management, re-charge time and adequate rest, mothers are able to bring their best characteristics to the forefront for their children. The skills taught can carry a child through her lifetime. Maintenance of the body allows mothers to handle children and their needs, including homework, peer pressure and basic growth issues, with a clear head and more patience.
- Mothers who feel good about themselves and are happy are more likely to show this in their daily lives by the way they live. This attitude can be an example of a goal children will expect to strive for because that is what they are familiar with. Children will learn what it means to love oneself and the importance of doing so by the example that mothers set. Mothers who can become centered and are able to relax can maintain a leadership role and provide proper guidance for their children, despite the obstacles. By communicating effectively, mothers can teach children that obstacles are inevitable, but it's how a person handles the situation that makes the person strong.
- While mothers urge their children to obtain a good education, they must also challenge themselves to grow in intellect daily as well. By doing so, they are able to continuously encourage their children to strive for new heights, and reach their full potential. This particularly plays an important role in the lives of young girls as they face adulthood and address issues such as sexual discrimination and salary discrimination.
- Mothers are the core of a family, and what occurs within the family centers around them. They provide stable waters when everything else is choppy. Teaching children the importance of balance in life, and providing a calm example during difficult situations will prepare them for when the time comes to branch out on their own.
