- 1). Go to the federal government's main grants website to browse and apply for different grants. (See References) Do a basic search by entering a keyword of the type of grant you wish to explore. Once you have found a grant you wish to apply for, you can download an application to fill out and submit.
- 2). Visit the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) which also provides a full listing of all Federal programs available to state and local governments. Programs include the WIC Program, Student Lunch Funding Program, and the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
- 3). Visit GovBenefits.gov, for more information on personal benefits and loans or other assistance programs offered through the federal government. Programs include benefits for job training, nutritional assistance, education, health care and other needs. Note that not all assistance programs provide payments and if they do, there may be conditions and limitations.
- 4). Visit Studentaid.edu.gov to apply for grants that have to do with education. There are grants available for teachers and students alike. You may also apply for an Institutional grant through this site, which is when a college provides a grants to help make up the difference between college costs and what a family can be expected to contribute through income, savings, loans, and student earnings.
- 5). Apply for a grant at SBA.gov when you want to open up a small business. These grants generally support non-profit organizations, intermediary lending institutions, and state and local governments.
