The Truth About Garage Kits

Some of your most valuable possessions are stored in your garage.
Your car, old family heirlooms, archived financial documents, and even your lawn mower are all stored in your garage.
Well, if you don't have a garage, and don't want to deal with the hassle and expense of building an attached garage to your home, you should take the time and research garage kits.
Making Sure It Looks Good This is the fun part.
You get to take some time and really find a garage kit style you like.
It doesn't necessarily have to fit in with the overall architecture of your home, but it would look even better if your home and the garage matched.
Even if the garage kit will be far away from your house.
If you can't find a garage kit that fits your needs, and you have a little extra money, you can always have it custom made for you.
Garage kit manufacturers like Summerwood can even customize a garage kit that is missing a a thing or two in the styling department to meet your needs or even have one built from scratch.
If you have enough cash and want a truly unique style, going the custom built route is great.
You get exactly what you want, when you want it, and how you want it.
What You Can Expect To Get Delivered You have the option to buy a pre-assembled garage kit that is delivered ready to go or a pre-cut garage that requires you to put it together yourself.
Either way you choose, the majority of the hard work is done for you: designing and cutting the garage.
This would be a big pain if you decided to not only design your garage, but cut each of the pieces you would need to actually build it.
If you go the pre-assembled route, you won't have to break a sweat.
Yeah, it would cost more to have pre-assembled at the factory and transported to you, but you wouldn't have to deal with the construction headaches.
But, if you're good with tools, or really good at following directions, you should be fine building the garage kit yourself.
The instruction manuals are very detailed, so you won't have to think about anything.
Just follow the directions and you will have your garage built after one weekend.
I Have To Build It Myself? If you decide to build your garage kit on your own, don't be intimidated.
Constructing your garage will be simple and really straight-forward.
You just need the right materials and tools and really be able to follow directions.
All of the tasks in the instruction manual are broken down systematically in an easy-to-follow style.
This makes putting everything together even easier.
Remember that you don't have to hassle with any of this if you don't want to.
Just call a contractor to put it all together for you over a weekend.
It will cost you a couple extra dollar, but you won't have to bother with tools and getting sweaty.
Getting Ready For Your Garage Delivery Now you have to select where you want to put the garage.
Do you want it in the backyard where you can use it solely as a storage unit? Do you want on the side of the house similar to a traditional attached garage? How do you want it from the sidewalk? If you're going to park your car, you're going to have pave a driveway from the sidewalk for easy access.
I would suggest not picking a location too far from the road and sidewalk.
A quick word of advice.
You're going to want to lay a concrete foundation for your garage kit.
Nothing extravagant, just a concrete pad for a solid foundation.
You don't want your garage sinking into the ground when it rains.
Building Permits Please, please, please make sure to get your building permits.
You don't want to be cited for not having them.
So don't more money for a fine and still have to get your permit.
Just get the permit and have a piece of mind when the building code inspector stops by unexpectedly.
You'll want to go down to your local planning office to obtain the appropriate building permits.
If your garage kit doesn't fit the building codes, return it to your garage manufacturer and have them replace it with one that does.
If they refuse or can't do it, have them refund your money.
