- 1). Hold the sebenza knife in the palm of your hand, keeping it away from your person with the blade facing away from your hand.
- 2). Press your thumb on the thumb-bar. The thumb-bar is a raised, round attachment at the base of the knife blade. It fits into a groove on the base of the knife.
- 3). Hold the knife steady, and, with your thumb securely on the thumb-bar, move your thumb quickly and forcefully in an upward motion. The blade of the knife will flick open.
- 4). Oil the joint of the blade with WD40 or some other lubricant to increase the speed with which the blade opens.
