- 1). Disconnect from the Internet. If your computer does contain spy software, this will prevent information from being stolen while you carry out the un-installation process.
- 2). Run the Windows Defender program. This tool comes included on Windows 7 and Windows Vista. To find it, type in "Windows Defender" in the Start menu search bar. Windows XP users can download it for free from Microsoft Security (see Resources).
- 3). Click once on the down arrow next to the "Scan" button. Select "Full Scan" from the drop-down menu.
- 4). Click the "Scan" button.
- 5). Wait for the scan to complete. When it does, click once on "Repair" to uninstall any spy software the tool finds.
- 6). Restart your computer.
