Father"s Day - 2010 - A Time of Joy and Happiness

In many parts of the world, Mother's Day has been celebrated during Spring and has been an important event in each family's life.
I remember how important it was for us when I and my sister were kids.
How we used to prepare cards and poems and crafts at the kindergarten.
In some parts of the globe though, father's have their own celebrating day too, called of course: Father's Day.
The date depends on the country you're living in.
In the United States, Canada, United Kingdom or South Africa, Father's Day is on the third Sunday of June (this year on June 20th 2010).
In Australia or New Zealand on the other hand, it's on the first Sunday of September.
The important part about this day is that it manages to get the entire family together.
Fathers Day appeared in the early years of the 20th century in order to celebrate the fathers and grandfathers around us.
However, only many years later it become an official celebration, after declared so in the 70's by President Nixon.
Ever since, it remained in June in the US.
Like I've said, during this day the entire family comes together.
Customs are that kids and children bring attentions for their fathers and grandfathers.
They can be cards, poems or crafts, but mothers and other members of the family like to buy all kind of gifts and presents for the males in their family.
Watches, personalized accessories and specially made gifts baskets are the most common gift ideas for Father's Day.
After receiving gifts, the family usually gathers around the table for lunch (or dinner).
Some prefer to celebrate father's Day at a picnic, at the pool or while having a barbecue.
Possibilities are countless, especially since whether is most of the time great during that period of the year.
In the end, all that matters is that everybody has a good time and the entire family gets closer together.
Such celebrations area meant to bring joy in people's hearts and strengthen family values and bonds between its members.
