- 1). Schedule a meeting with the retiring employee to discuss the handling of the announcement and if he wishes to have a company party. Write the announcement in a manner the employee will appreciate. Check with him before sending or posting the letter to find out if there is any additional information he wants included.
- 2). Send a company-wide email to communicate a retirement announcement in an office setting. Post a letter on a bulletin board in a highly visible area in a factory environment to communicate with employees who don't have access to email.
- 3). Structure the announcement by listing the employee's title and function in the company. List any outstanding achievements during the employee's years of service. - 5). Remind staff members to visit with this person again if they like. Arrange for the employee to meet with co-workers in a designated area, such as a conference room or in conjunction with the party.
