Homeopathic practitioners earned an average annual salary of $120,000 per year, as of 2011, according to the American Medical College of Homeopathy. This salary was lower than the average salary reported by osteopathic and allopathic doctors who practice the more traditional western form of medicine recognized by the American Medical Association. These physicians and surgeons brought home an average salary of $180,870 in 2010, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The earning potential for the homeopathic practitioner is considerably higher than the average salary indicated by the American Medical College of Homeopathy. The Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges indicates that the homeopathic practitioner can expect to make in the neighborhood of $200,000 per year with a little hard work and some extra marketing. The association does indicate, however, that many will only make around $70,000 to $80,000, even with a busy medical practice.

Wide variations in pay within this field of medicine occur largely due to the fact that homeopathic medical practitioners operate their own medical practices. In many ways, the amount the practitioner can expect to make depends largely upon the ability of the practitioner to network and market her own practice. Although the practice of homeopathic medicine has gained some level of respectability in the medical community, it is sill not recognized by many as an acceptable alternative to western medicine. Homeopathic practitioners may have to fight to overcome stigmas associated with the deviation from Western medical practice.

Although the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics does not make a job outlook projection for homeopathic medical practitioners, it does provide some indication that the overall growth of the medical field will occur at an above average rate from 2008 through 2018. According to the bureau, the number of jobs across all medical specialties should grow by about 22 percent.
