- 1). Contact the builder to determine what runners to purchase. If the builder is unavailable to contact, measure the runner and take note of its size and material to purchase. Another option is to build new wood runners.
- 2). Attach the new wood runners to each side rail. Be sure the screw heads are countersunk to prevent them from catching in the grooves of the drawer.
- 3). Install side rails, if they are not already attached. Ensure the runner's end is flush with the drawer opening.
- 4). Measure and route new drawer side grooves so they are the same dimension on each side of the rail runners. Do this in a sequential motion until each groove has been routed to the final depth.
- 5). Test the new runner. The drawer should slide in to the routed grooves easily and without fuss.
- 6). Apply beeswax, soap or paraffin to for a smoother operation.
