The Usable Storage Closet

An organized closet: what every home owner hopes for but so few see on a regular basis.
Getting an organized system that will work in your space is a great way to help that quest along.
A simple and affordable way to do this on your own is to build a shelving unit in your closet.
You can go with a wood finish, like a cedar or oak, and just have the shelves along one of the side walls, for instance.
Or you can get some wire racks and cut them to the space you need.
You can find these wire racks to cut for your closet at most home improvement stores like the Home Depot or Lowe's.
The double as both a shelving unit as will as an area for a clothes rack to hang coats or other things.
Another option is to put a bin system in your closet.
You can use a simple label maker to help keep track of what you put in each bin so you will know right where to find something when looking.
It is a good idea to label the bins on a few sides so that if they get put back in a different direction you can still find your items in a jiff.
Going with see through plastic bins also helps you to identify the items you store in them as opposed to more decorative woven or colored bins, although you can still label those too.
You can even pay for a professional organizer to design a usable storage system for your home, given your available space.
They will undoubtedly come up with a wide variety of storage options that will most likely incorporate shelves, buns and other items for your storage closet.
The main problem with going with an organizational specialist to design your space is that there will be a hefty fee associated with their services most of the time.
This fee will vary based on who you get to design your closet solution but should be worked out before you begin your storage closet project so that there are no surprises when it is completed.
Whichever storage system you choose to implement out there, keep your focus on something that you and your family will use and can maintain.
There is no point in putting a costly organizational system and then not having anyone use it properly or with any consistency.
