Chainsaw repair is not for the unskilled.
This is a very dangerous tool, and if something goes wrong, you could easily lose an arm, or even your life if not careful.
However, if you insist, I will show you how to preform some proper maintenance on your chainsaw.
You are going to need these list of tools: - Screwdriver or Rivet Punch - Protective Gloves - A chain sharpener - a chain mender; one that is used specifically for chain saws.
- Chain Lubricant - A Degreasing Agent The whole point of preforming maintenance on your chainsaw is to keep it up to spec, and to make sure you do not hurt yourself, or someone else while using it.
A malfunctioning chainsaw can get a very dangerous thing.
Each time you go to use your chainsaw, it is best to check all the scews on the bar, and around the finger guard to make sure they are all tight as possible.
Make sure that the kickback protection bar is secure.
If this isn't, and the chainsaw kicks back, the chain is going to come flying at you injurying you quite badly.
While you check the kickback bar, make sure it, and the chain are properly lubricated.
Finally, in the regular maintenance of your chainsaw, you will check the fuel filter.
This is to make sure there are no fuel leaks, as we all know that that could be quite disastrous.
Now, if you do not have a fuel filter, because your saw is electric, then inspect the cable, and connectors for wear and tear, including to the cable insulation.
See, that wasn't to hard now was it.
Now, if all of these check out, you are good to go.
If something is off, such as the screws, well, tighten them.
If there is a fuel leak, or the cable is in need of replacement, it is best to consult someone who specializes in repairing chainsaws.
So, for the simple maintenance check ups, it is fine to do your own chainsaw repairs.
