Here are a few tips on how you could actually repair your sink on your own:
- The first step would be to clean the surface of the sink with the use of a sponge and warm water.
Use the sponge to scrub the surface and then a dry piece of cloth should be used for wiping it off.
After wiping it off, you should try to air dry for several minutes more just to make sure that it is completely dry when you work on it to be repaired.
Just to be sure that no moisture is left; you should only start working on it after no less than 10 minutes after wiping the whole surface off. - If the damage to the sink is in the form of a crack, then apply some epoxy on a small paintbrush and then try to apply it carefully to the cracked part or area of the sink.
Now if you want to do it with a little less of a mess than you would surely have when making use of even a small paintbrush, then you can make use of a toothpick to make sure that there isn't as much mess during the completion of the job. - But if you are dealing with a chip then you need to do it differently, and it can be done by placing several layers of epoxy and then allowing it to dry completely before any new layer is added on.
- To clean up any excess epoxy that might be around the damaged part that you have just fixed, make use of a damp piece of sponge, specifically its corner.
One full day should be allowed for the complete drying of the epoxy.
After that, you can paint over the part that you have repaired.
