Although you can hire a car when you visit Turkey to allow you to explore further away from the place where you are staying. But if you would prefer to explore all that this country has to offer and don't want to spend a fortune then there are other forms of transport that you can use.

You will find that it isn't difficult to travel around Turkey today as it was say 15 to 20 years ago. But be prepared that travelling around this country will prove a little different from other places where tourists like to spend time.

So what forms of transport are available for travelling around Turkey so you can explore more of what it has to offer?

1. Buses - This is the most economical way to get around Turkey and the buses are well maintained so of course the journeys will be pretty comfortable. In the much busier parts of the country especially where the tourists tend to stay you will find that they offer not just day time but also night time services.

But you need to be aware that at this present time there are only two bus companies are able to sell return tickets. When you pay for your return tickets with Varan or Ulusoy bus companies you will need to book your seat for the return journey along with the time that you wish to travel back on the bus. In fact you should sort this out as soon as you arrive at your chosen destination.

2. Taxis - Unfortunately at present unlike in other countries such as Spain you will find that these are not regulated as well. Although the prices are relatively cheap you can still find yourself paying more than you expected. As soon as you get into the taxi and before they start to move off make sure that the meter is at zero.
