    Flamingo Visitor Center and Campground

    • The Flamingo Visitor Center and Flamingo campground is located at the end of the Everglades National Park. The visitor center offers educational displays, brochures, and back-country permits.A marina store, public boat ramp and canoe and bicycle rentals are available in the area.

    Campgound

    • The Flamingo campground is located on the shores of Florida Bay. The campground has 234 drive-in sites--55 with water views, three walk-up group campsites right on the water's edge and 40 walk-up sites. Amenities include showers, two dump stations, grills, picnic tables and an amphitheater. Tents and RVs are accommodated, but no hookups are available. Campers can enjoy activities such as boating, canoeing, hiking, biking and fishing.

    Hiking Trails

    • The nine hiking trails in Flamingo that campers can enjoy include West Lake, Snake Bight, Rowdy Bend, Christian Point, Bear Lake, Eco Pond, Guy Bradley, Bayshore Loop and Coastal Prairie trail. The trails feature sights such as mangrove trees, tropical hardwood hammock, tropical tree species and a freshwater pond. Campers can also enjoy wildlife viewings of wading birds, songbirds, ducks, alligators and Florida softshell turtles.

    Fishing

    • Saltwater fishing is available to campers in Flamingo. A state-issued saltwater fishing license is required for all anglers ages 16 and above. No fishing is allowed at the Flamingo Marina during daylight hours. Shrimp may be taken by dip or cast net. Campers must abide by fishing size and catch limitations.

    Access

    • Flamingo is accessible only from the Everglades National Park. The Flamingo Visitor Center and campground is about 38 miles from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center of the park. Campers should expect to drive about an hour upon entering the park.
